Summers in California are a wonderful time for shopping at the Studio City Farmers Market because you can see and taste the sweet savory height of ripeness that fruits and vegetables, coming from our local farms, can produce. This year we are bursting with many varieties of sweet, tree-ripened fruits, like nectarines, peaches, and plums, just to name a few. As you stroll through the market taste samples of the wide array of fruits that our farmers are offering this season. Right now our early summer produce like snow peas and certain varieties of peaches like the maycrest are winding down and being replaced by the O’Henry peach and the Babcock nectarine. Corn is plentiful now and exceptionally sweet. You will also find all kinds of melons - cantaloupes, persian melons and watermelons in many shapes and sizes. If you like peppers you are in luck. There are so many out now from the multicolored sweet bell peppers to the smoky poblanos and pasillas. There is always the standard fare that you can get in any supermarket but if you taste ours you will never go back to eating store-bought again.
